10 Terrible Movies With Overlooked Positives

7. Awesome CGI Dragon Upstages All Human Characters - Eragon

EragonWhy It Sucked: Critics tore Eragon to pieces, deriding it for being a heavily derivative mash of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, without bringing to the table and distinctive personality of its own. The performances - especially an embarrassingly cash-grabbing one from John Malkovich - are largely risible. The Overlooked Positive: Except one performance, and it's that of the visual effects department, who manage to render the film's most interesting character out of thin air. That's right, the movie's dragon, Saphira, totally outclasses and upstages the humans, largely thanks to both the surprisingly impressive, vivid visual effects, and a strong vocal performance from Rachel Weisz. In fact, Weisz is the only actor in the film to really make it out unscathed, imbuing the film with the very little genuine heart that it has.
