10 Terrible Remakes Of Awesome Movies That Almost Happened

10. The Warriors

Walter Hill's 1979 cult film about warring gangs in New York has had somewhat surprising staying power. The film was a minor hit when it was released, grossing $22m from a relatively small $4-7m budget. The film spoke to the disenfranchised American youth and succeeded in spite of the fact that it was linked to real-life gang violence that happened after the film came out in theatres with Paramount resultantly withdrawing advertising for it. Interest in the film was renewed in 2005 with the release of the well-received The Warriors video game and the Ultimate Director's Cut of the film on DVD. Suddenly, Hollywood was interested in remaking it. Tony Scott was to have directed the film, which would have taken place in modern-day Los Angeles and been a more realistic look at actual L.A. gangs such as The Crips and The Bloods, but his suicide in August 2012 put an end to any talk of a remake. Scott was also, believe it or not, planning on remaking Sam Peckinpah's classic western The Wild Bunch in a similar manner, with Will Smith set to star.
