10 Terrible Remakes Of Awesome Movies That Almost Happened

3. Short Circuit

A remake of this 1986 comedy science fiction film was announced back in 2008 with Dimension Films acquiring the rights to do it. After the announcement those involved in the remake assured fans that the robot Number 5's appearance would not change and that it would remain true to the spirit of the original. Then it was announced that Steve Carr was set to direct. Steve Carr, director of such classics as Daddy Day Care, Are We Done Yet?, Paul Blart: Mall Cop and Movie 43. Fans were worried. Carr's replacement Tim Hill, he of Alvin And The Chipmunks, Garfield: A Tale Of Two Kitties and Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever fame, was hardly a good substitute. But since this news announced in 2011, not much has happened and no start date has been set. Perhaps another Grumpy Cat film took priority over it. Either way, it's a relief that Short Circuit won't be getting remade any time soon.
