5. Shrek The Third
Another three-quel that finds its way on to the list is the disappointing third installment of the Shrek franchise. The rule of diminishing returns didnt really apply to this except in terms of quality. Based solely on the strength of its predecessors this film made a ludicrous $798 million worldwide during its run. Not so much an appalling film, more a victim of how good the first two were. It might sound strange to say that this is the first one that felt like a kids film, without any of the charm or magic of series. Too many weak pop-culture references rather than original comedy, this feels more like a cheap forced manufacture rather than a natural expansion to the universe.
Children may devour the slapstick, but the once-mighty Shrek has somehow lost all his charm and spiky humour. James Christopher of Times UKRotten Tomatoes: 41%
