10 Terrifying Basement Scenes In Horror Movies

The 2017 remake of Stephen King's most terrifying novel had a very large set of clown shoes to fill, yet ultimately the film delivered on creating true terror and amazing scenes, especially in the very first scene with Georgie.
When Georgie is asked by his brother Bill to get some glue to help make his paper boat float on water, the poor kid is forced to head into a dark and terrifying basement.
The lights don't work, so Georgie has to look around for a flashlight. As he does, he notices a pair of shining eyes glaring right back at him from the dark.
When Georgie grabs a flashlight, it turns out the eyes were just lightbulbs reflecting the light from outside, relieving the tension for both Georgie and the audience.
This scene works because it tricks the audience, who all know what happens to Georgie, into creating their own horror for a change. The audience lives in that moment of terror with Georgie, feeling the same emotions he does.
Just like Pennywise wanted.
