The 1960 horror movie Psycho is an all-time horror classic that has been parodied, remade, or referenced across the years, due to the massive impact the film first had on its release.

One of the many scenes that solidified Psycho's horror icon status is the shocking basement revelation scene that takes place near the end of the film. In this scene, one of the main characters, Lila, is forced to hide in Norman Bates' basement to avoid being spotted by the clearly disturbed man.

While down there, Lila discovers Bates' mother sitting in a rocking chair. However, when Lila turns the chair around she is met with a rotting corpse, causing her to release a blood-curdling scream. Immediately afterwards a figure rushes in with a knife and tries to kill Lila.

Just as her partner comes in to save her, Lila sees that the killer was Norman Bates all along and that he has been dressing up as his own mother while he killed people.
