10 Terrifying Basement Scenes In Horror Movies

8. The Amityville Horror (2005)

Evil Dead Remake

Yet another remake of a classic horror film, the 2005 Amityville Horror film, starring Ryan Reynolds, was a remake of the 1979 iconic horror movie. The 2005 movie sadly did not impress critics, even though the basement scene is still decent enough to make it to this list.

During the movie, the family is haunted by the usual gaggle of spirits and demons possessing the dad, talking to the little girl, and causing blood to seep from the walls.

One night the father, George, is possessed and smashes open a wall in the basement which leads into a hidden tunnel. Around the same time the mom, Kathy, was researching the house in the local library, discovering that the house once belonged to a psychotic preacher who captured and tortured Native Americans in his basement.

As Kathy reads about the preacher's victims, George comes face to face with those victims and even comes face to face with the mad preacher. Overall the scene is super quick but super tense, even if it's only just because the special effects used are really good.
