10 Terrifying Horror Films That Will Haunt Your 2015

10. Krampus

Release date: 27 November 2007's Trick €˜R Treat is one of the best, most underrated horrors of recent years. The long-gestating sequel still looks like it needs a little longer until it's ready for general audiences, but writer-director Michael Dougherty is finally returning to the horror genre with seasonal monster film Krampus. Who is Krampus, you may ask? Why, he's the anti-Santa Claus from Alpine folklore. According to myth the horned, anthropomorphic figure punishes naughty children during the Christmas period, in contrast with the far more benevolent (and less terrifying looking) Jolly Old Saint Nick. There's a bunch of €œcompanions€ to the traditional Father Christmas across Europe, but the Krampus is the best-known. Probably because he's the most inherently scary. There's no shortage of holiday horror films but if Dougherty has proven anything with the unique, inventive €“ and inventively haunting €“ Halloween-set Trick 'R Treat, he's more than up to the task of providing new seasonal terror.
