10 TERRIFYING Horror Movie Moments You Don't Actually See

4. Head On A Stick - Wolf Creek

Wolf Creek
Roadshow

For a film so intent on showing you all of Mick Taylor's grisly attacks throughout, it's strange to think there's a moment that doesn't revel in his bloody brutalising to its fullest potential. One conversation, however, gives way to far more nightmare fuel than any amount of finger-severing, crucifix-mounting, long-distance sniping horror that comes alongside it. Quite the feat, really.

Upon finding Liz trying to steal one of his cars to escape him, serial killer Taylor severs her spinal cord and renders her nothing more than - literally - a "head on a stick," paralysed from the neck down. He explains this is a trick used in war, an interrogation technique that ensures there's no chance of fighting back or running away... and that's the last we ever see of Liz again.

Considering how big bad Mick likes to keep his victims alive to torture for as long as they'll hold out though, there's a queasy, terrifying implication to Liz's situation that makes it so much scarier than a simple knife in the back.

We might not learn of poor Liz's fate, but can we honestly say we'd want to know what happens to those Taylor keeps alive?
