10 Theories That Improve The Indiana Jones Movies

10. Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull Is A Radiation Induced Fever Dream

For some, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is an abomination, a movie that never should have happened. Why? It's difficult to pinpoint, exactly. For many, it's the fact that instead of religious iconography, the movie concerns itself with matters of the extraterrestrial - and apparently, never the twain shall meet. Although that seems a little dramatic - after all, Raiders of the Lost Ark had the Ark of the Covenant melting faces off Nazis - it's a common point of contention. Others find fault with Shia Labeouf playing Mutt, Indy's son, and with the contentious fridge scene, when our hero survives a nuclear blast at a testing site by taking refuge in a lead-lined refrigerator. However, that scene gives rise to a theory that attempts to explain away the rest of the movie: that the events following it are actually part of a radiation induced fever dream. In other words, Indy hallucinated the whole thing, and there were no crystal skulls, aliens, or Mutt. If you're an Indiana Jones purist, this might be the theory you want to latch onto. Even if Temple of Doom was probably the series' low point in retrospect.
