10 Things About 80s Movies Everyone Misses Today

2. Movie Theme Songs

The '80s was undoubtedly one of the best decades for music since the human race first grew ears.

Unless you didn't like synthesisers, in which case you were living in your own personal hell for ten years.

Naturally, the worlds of cinema and pop music collided head-on, and gave us some of the greatest movie songs of all time.

Tina Turner did Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. Simple Minds did Breakfast Club. They somehow managed to tie Prince down long enough to get him to record an entire Batman soundtrack! Insanity!

Obviously, pop stars still write songs for movies these days, but they just don't seem to have the same staying power as their older counterparts.

The clearest example of this can be found in the two Top Gun films. In the 1986 original, you can find two monster tracks in the form of Berlin's Take My Breath Away and Kenny Loggins' Danger Zone.

In the 2022 sequel, there's Lady Gaga singing Hold My Hand. You've forgotten that already, haven't you?
