10 Things Batman Vs Superman Won't Do Better Than The Dark Knight Trilogy

8. A Multi-Layered Narrative

Nolan's films don't go for the usual tropes of superhero films. There's no subjugation of the human race, power-hungry megalomaniacs or world-destroying villain plots in Nolan's world, there's just bad people, chaos and human nature. Aside from the aspects of a depraved society that the Joker, Bane and Ra's al Ghul represent to a certain degree, Nolan's Batman films are always spliced with equally interesting sub-plots. The running theme throughout the entire trilogy is Wayne's desire to save his city from corruption by making Batman a figurehead for justice, courage and freedom. It simply isn't going to be possible for Batman V Superman to trump this; even if it wants to. Wonder Woman and Lex Luthor are both confirmed to feature in the film, but to what degree are they going to be integral to the story? Lex especially is almost exclusively a villain that's solely concerned with killing Superman, so that only really leaves Wonder Woman to provide some form of sub-plot for Batman. A subtle romance perhaps?
