10 Things Captain America: Civil War Will Have To Change From The Comic
7. There Aren't Enough Heroes
What Happens In The Comics: One of the best things about Civil War was watching Iron Man and Captain America's factions fighting each other. The Civil War reached into just about every corner of the Marvel universe at the time and featured Avengers, Secret Avengers, Young Avengers, Ms Marvel, Doctor Strange, the Punisher, and so on. By the end of the story, they weren't even teams any more; they were armies. This carried on into subsequent stories, with heroes treated more as either government agents or dangerous vigilantes based on which side of the fight they were on. Why It Won't Work In The Film: To date, there are only about a dozen heroes in the Marvel universe. Even the possible inclusion of Ant-Man, Daredevil, and Black Panther won't do much to swell the ranks. Add to that the fact that established characters like Hulk and Thor seem unlikely to put in an appearance, and you're left with only a few characters. Many of the heroes that played a key role in the comics, such as Hulkling and Cloak, haven't been introduced yet. Even the heroes who weren't crucial to the plot, and were only featured to make the fight scenes more interesting, simply don't exist. While the smaller cast will allow the film to focus more on the individual characters, and the fight scenes could still be impressive, it won't have the same impact as in print.
With a (nearly) useless degree in English literature and a personal trainer qualification he's never used, Freddie spends his times writing things that he hopes will somehow pay the rent. He's also a former professional singer, and plays the saxophone and ukulele. He's not really used to talking about himself in the third person, and would like to stop now, thanks.
