10 Things Christopher Eccleston Has Done Since Leaving Doctor Who

1. Thor: The Dark World

For the world at large, Christopher Eccleston's most famous role since quitting Doctor Who has to be Malekith in the 2013 film, Thor: The Dark World. The role is famous not for its brilliance but simply because the film is still relatively recent and it was seen by an enormous number of people around the world. Whilst it could be argued that the sequel was at least as good as the first Thor film, Eccleston's performance was not one of the shining lights of the production. He was hampered by being saddled with thick make up and a truly absurd costume. On top of that, his character was sadly very two dimensional, with more emphasis placed on his talking in a made-up language than on his actions making any logical sense. The final nail in the coffin was that he was competing for attention as the villain with Tom Hiddleston's Loki, a fight he was never going to win. No doubt Eccleston would have wanted such a massive degree of exposure to be reserved for a better role and for a better film, but them's the breaks. What did you think of this list?
