10 Things Christopher Nolan Got Wrong About Batman

8. Alfred Leaving Bruce Wayne

During an emotionally-charged sequence in the Dark Knight Rises, Bruce Wayne's faithful butler Alfred Pennyworth decides that he's no longer willing to stand by the billionaire's side while he continues his caped crusade against Bane and his army.

By this point, Michael Caine's character is convinced that Batman is past it, has assumed he's on a suicide mission and cannot face the possibility of having to bury his beloved master. It's a powerful scene at face value, but it doesn't quite ring true.

Here's the problem: Alfred would never leave Batman's side, even if he thought the Dark Knight was about to lay down his life for a cause he believed in. The Alfred the fans know and love from the comics would go down fighting with Bats, or at least have more faith in his master's ability to defeat Bane, a feat he does eventually pull off.
