10 Things Christopher Nolan Got Wrong About Batman

7. Anyone CANNOT Be Batman

The idea of Batman as an enduring symbol is one of the key themes running through the Dark Knight trilogy. Bruce Wayne himself says that Batman could be anyone, any Gotham citizen inspired to make a stand against crime and injustice.

This theory is the lifeblood of The Dark Knight Rises' final scene in which Joseph Gordon-Levitt's John Blake, the series' Robin alternative, inherits the keys to the Batcave. Although the concept that anyone can be Batman is a nice idea, and one that has been explored in the comic books before, it simply isn't accurate. It took extensive training under Ra's al Ghul before Bruce Wayne was in any fit state for a caped crusade, not to mention the limitless resources of Wayne Enterprises.

Allowing Blake to suit up and tackle Gotham's criminal underbelly without League of Shadows training has disaster written all over it. He may have police experience, but that would not prepare the fledgeling Batman for a showdown with the Nolanverse version of the Penguin, the Riddler or Deathstroke, who probably exist somewhere.
