10 Things Christopher Nolan Got Wrong About Batman
6. Batman's Voice
When it comes to concealing his secret identity, Batman's voice is almost as important as his cape and cowl. He goes to great lengths to disguise his vocals so nobody would suspect it's billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne beneath that mask, and the various actors who have tackled the role have taken a different approach to this.
Christian Bale went with a guttural growl that has been mocked across the internet since Batman Begins touched down in cinemas. Not only is it hard to take seriously, it's also difficult to understand in a number of scenes across the trilogy.
It's unfortunate this is the case because Batman's voice is a key aspect of the character. It's been likened to the sound of broken glass underfoot and he's used it as a weapon against criminals, striking fear into their hearts while announcing his arrival.
Perhaps Christopher Nolan should have told Bale to put on the same voice he used when chastising that backstage technician during the making of Terminator Salvation. Now there's a voice that would send Gotham's criminals running scared.
