10 Things Christopher Nolan Got Wrong About Batman

2. Batman's Condensed Crimefighting Career

Given that the events of The Dark Knight appears to take place around six months on from Batman Begins, Bruce Wayne considers retiring from crimefighting to be with Rachel Dawes less than a year after first taking up the cape and cowl.

This makes no sense as Batman's motivation is to protect Gotham City from the kind of evil that orphaned him when he was a child and inspire its citizens to make a stand against it themselves. There's no way he achieved that in under 12 months.

Things become more dubious when The Dark Knight Rises confirms that the Caped Crusader went into hiding for eight years - more than seven years longer than he was actually Batman. The other characters referring to him as a beacon of hope for Gotham doesn't ring true when you consider he was active for such a short time.
