10 Things You Didn't Know About Goodfellas

7. Both Of Scorsese's Parents Appear In Goodfellas

This entry is one that once you know, you'll always view the scenes in question differently after finding out. Both of Scorsese's parents appear in Goodfellas, but while his father only has one minor scene throughout, his mother plays a rather important role. When Henry is sent to jail for assault and battery along with Paulie (his boss) and a few others, we learn that prison life is pretty easy for those with money. The scene that features Paulie and Henry sitting down for their traditional Italian meal is also where you'll be able to catch a quick glimpse of Scorsese's dear father; he's the guy that puts too many onions in the sauce. Like we said, it's a small part, but Scorsese's mother has a much larger and more memorable part... That of Tommy DeVito's mum. Yeah that's right, the jolly, yet slightly naive mother to the psychopathic Tommy is the real life mother to the man that made a film that utters the F word 300 times. We can't imagine she was too approving of that, but she clearly wasn't too upset, as she's appeared in more than just one of Scorsese's films. Most notably appearing in Casino too.
