10 Things You Didn't Know About Goodfellas

5. Billy Batts Actor Frank Vincent Had To Overcome His Claustrophobia To Film His Scene In The Car

Frank Vincent's death as Billy Batts in Goodfellas is the pivotal moment in the film's narrative where Henry and Tommy's lives start to spiral out of control, leading them on a downward slope into dangerous territory. Billy Batt's grisly death in the film was especially hard for Vincent to act however, as the actor suffered from claustrophobia - not something you want to battle with when one of your scenes involves you being stuffed into the boot of a car. Considering Batts has just been beaten within an inch of his life in the film, we can only assume his anxiety probably helped him perform a scared to death mobster who was about to get stabbed to death by a kitchen knife wielding Tommy. But hey, if the actor hadn't taken the role of Batts, then he may never have appeared as Phil Leotardo in The Sopranos - now that would have been a damn shame.
