10 Things Everybody Gets Wrong About 2014 Movies

8. Shailene Woodley Won€™t Be Mary Jane in The Amazing Spider-Man 3

If The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had been Sony's attempt to run the series into the ground it'd have been a massive success. Sadly it was actually trying to do the opposite, broadening the scope of the Spider-verse and setting up a string of related titles, something it failed at miserably. While the future of the franchise is far from certain - following the sequel's fart everything, from a transfer to Marvel to an Aunt May spin-off, has been floated - let's for a moment assume The Amazing Spider-Man 3 will happen. In many fan's minds the third film will see the introduction of Shailene Woodley's Mary Jane Watson, who was cut from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, probably because she wasn't Sinister Six enough. But while she was at a point cast in the role, to still expect her to pop up to send Peter web-shooting now is rather short-sighted. Woodley's character isn't yet a part of the Amazing universe (what a misnomer) and with her star rising independent of Peter Parker - she's the star of Divergent and thanks to The Fault In Our Stars has garnered a sizeable fan base - there's little to motivate any expectation she'll return. Not much is known about the next film (rumours are it could look at the Clone Saga, because why even try to be good at this point), but one thing that's pretty certain is that is won't have Woodley on the masthead.
