10 Things Everybody Gets Wrong About The Marvel Cinematic Universe

7. Other Franchises Are Part Of It

Some people still don't fully understand why the likes of Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America haven't crossed paths with the likes of Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. Those in the know get the fact that there are three separate studios involved. Although all of the characters are from the pages of Marvel comic books, different movie studios own the rights to the characters and, therefore, have their own live action continuities that are exclusive from each other. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is produced by Marvel Studios. They own the screen rights to majority of the Marvel comic book characters, bar some rather big exceptions; the X-Men and the Fantastic Four are owned by Fox and Sony own Spider-Man. Discussions have taken place between Marvel Studios and Sony to potentially bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the fact that each franchise - along with X-Men and Fantastic Four - are made by different studios explains why they haven't crossed paths on the big screen yet.
