10 Things Everyone Gets Wrong About Famous Movies

6. Tim Burton Directed The Nightmare Before Christmas

Nightmare Before Christmas I've actually written articles for this site where people have left comments exclaiming that I "wrongly credited" a man named Henry Selick as the director of a movie that was so obviously directed by goth auteur Tim Burton, when a quick Google search would clear up such a thing in about, oh, four seconds. Fact is, Tim Burton is the man who gets most of the credit for The Nightmare Before Christmas because it reeks of his artistic traits, but he didn't direct it. That guy I mentioned? Henry Selick? He actually did direct The Nightmare Before Christmas, an stop-motion movie about a friendly skeleton named Jack, who opens up a portal between Halloween Town and Christmas Town and develops a taste for the holiday. It's not exactly surprising as to why people think Burton helmed this movie: it was heavily promoted under the title "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas," and though he came up with the story and designed a lot of the characters, he didn't even write the screenplay, but took on a producing role.
