10 Things From Spider-Man: TAS The Sony Spider-Verse Should Feature

1. Gang Rivalries

As tempting as it is to jettison major villains into the story and try to create a huge, blockbuster saga, Sony must pump the breaks in the beginning and make sure they establish a solid foundation for their universe.

To build depth in the Spider-Verse, Sony needs to look at ground-level villains that aren't super powerful or super smart. Tombstone, Iceberg, Silvermane, Hammerhead. These characters and their gangs can bring substance and diversity to the universe which will offer a refreshing departure from constant world-ending villainy.

It's the key difference between the MCU and Fox's X-Men movies: Fox always moved on to the next big bad while the MCU made sure to plant seeds, specifically small yet strong seeds, as they moved forward.

The Spider-Verse needs to feel like more than a backdrop for iconic clashes. It needs to be a living, breathing environment that evolves on and off screen. Creating a volatile city in which super villains and the common criminal both have a profound impact on the story will help Sony build up to MCU-level conflicts that raise the stakes beyond "Hero Must Save The World".
