10 Things From Spider-Man: TAS The Sony Spider-Verse Should Feature
7. Rocket Racer
Diversity is the elephant in the room that superhero films can never seem to address properly. Regardless if Miles Morales comes to the MCU or Spider-Verse, Sony needs more representation in every aspect of their films.
The Rocker Racer story from The Animated Series is a simple yet effective way to introduce more obscure characters into the universe, specially characters who are not white straight males.
Will bringing in one black character into the Spider-Verse change cinema? Of course not, but Sony can do their part in showcasing diversity by purposely putting characters like Rocket Racer in the spotlight instead of wheeling out the usual suspects that feature in every show, comic, and video game.
With characters like Silk, Silver Sable, and Black Cat rumored to appear in this world, adding in a younger character like Rocket Racer would add a new perspective to the world.
If Sony were smart, they could also use this as an opportunity to start building their ranks for an Avengers-style team-up within the Spider-Verse that doesn't include six different versions of a character that shoots webs and crawls on walls.
