10 Things Future Batman Movies Must Do

2. Present The First Serious Live-Action Batman And Robin Partnership

It may be hard to believe, but with all the Batman movies to see release, none have given us a serious depiction of Batman and Robin working side by side.

The Adam West and Burt Ward Batman movie was a tongue-in-cheek, high-camp adventure. Batman Forever veered veered towards similar territory in its final act, and by the time Batman & Robin was unleashed, West and Ward may as well have reclaimed their roles. The Dark Knight Rises toyed with the idea of a Robin, but the attempt fell pretty flat.

With the glimpse of a defaced Robin costume in the Batman V Superman trailer, all sorts of possibilities are opened up. Yes, we may only see flashbacks to the Boy Wonder in Batman's younger days, or we may only see the empty costume tormenting him as a reminder of his failure (as Jason Todd's outfit does in the comic books), but there is every chance that another Robin may well appear in a future film.

The prospect of seeing a serious depiction of Batman and Robin working together to solve crimes and take on iconic villains, with no 'holy metal rocks, Batman!' gags or winks, is immensely exciting. With Marvel's big-screen adaptations impressively faithful to their source material, a Batman and Robin partnership would allow DC and Warner Bros. to show they were serious about doing the same.
