10 Things Future Batman Movies Must Do

1. Finally Present Batman As The World's Greatest Detective

As well as the Dark Knight and the Caped Crusader, Batman is also known as the World's Greatest Detective. In the comic books and classic animated series, the character regularly puts his skills of deduction to good use: we see him sneaking into offices and crime scenes again and again, following trails of breadcrumbs to solve one crime after another.

The films have done this in part, but not enough to emphasise just how intelligent Batman is supposed to be. Bruce Wayne was seen travelling the world to reach his physical peak in Batman Begins, but Nolan made modest use of his detective skills. Scenes in that first film, and in The Dark Knight, allowed audiences a glimpse, but Bale's Batman never seemed like anything close to a genius.

From what we've seen of Batman V Superman, it looks again like the Dark Knight will mainly be a fighter rather than a thinker, but future standalone movies should demonstrate the detective as well as the brawler. Using a villain such as Zsasz, the Riddler, or Hugo Strange would force Batman to use his brains more than his brawn, and allow for more of a slow-burning story to unfold. The chances of this happening are pretty slim, as studios believe audiences need to be bombarded with action scenes in trailers to entice them, but with Affleck (a filmmaker with proven abilities in such movies) aboard, it is a possibility.
