10 Things Future Batman Movies Must Do

9. Show Batman's Olympian Physicality

In his comic-book adventures, Batman is an absolute machine. Versed in almost every type of martial art, he can take on the vast majority of enemies and win, even if he takes a beating along the way. However, in the films, Batman's fighting is typically a pretty basic affair.

In Tim Burton's adaptations, Bruce Wayne appears to be little more than a white-belt brawler. In Schumacher's films, he was more adept with his fists and feet, but the fighting was typically overblown.

Nolan's trilogy gave Batman more physicality, but Bale's agility was hampered too much by the bulky, clumsy costume. Even when Batman throws punches and kicks, it isn't quite as fluid as it should be.

Future Batman films should show Batman as a highly-skilled fighter, trained in many disciplines, with the agility of an Olympic gymnast. As Affleck wears a cloth-based suit, he should be able to move with much more grace and speed, and footage has already been released of a faster Batman taking thugs down.

While he doesn't have to be leaping across the screen and performing cartwheels every five seconds, it would be fantastic to see a Batman with more diverse fighting abilities. This would help to show the insane amount of training Batman has done to effectively mould himself into a superhuman, and demonstrate how it is that he can face armed thugs night after night without being fatally wounded. It could also offer filmmakers more freedom in staging action scenes. While Nolan's trilogy had some decent fights, the costume's weight did inhibit them somewhat, leading to a large amount of vehicular-based sequences.

With a Batman in a cloth-based suit, action scenes could involve more acrobatics, more brutal hand-to-hand combat, and impressive stunts. Again, this would allow for a more dynamic take on the character, and by showing him as a true world-class fighter, audiences will have more reason to believe that a mere mortal could stand shoulder to shoulder with gods to face global threats.
