10 Things Future Batman Movies Must Do
8. Don't Kill The Bad Guys
Burton, Schumacher, and Nolan all did it.
Bad guys die in stories: that's one of the rules most of us understand, and feel okay about. However, when Batman's enemies are killed, filmmakers are shooting themselves in the foot by removing the potential for said characters to return. Even if enemies are never brought back for future films, the idea of them still being out there for Batman to face again and again helps to flesh the universe out.
In future films, Batman should avoid letting his enemies die. In the past, villains have either perished by falling from a great height, being aboard a crashing train, or being brutally shot by Catwoman.
Not only is killing villains or letting them die not quite in keeping with Batman's core values, it also limits the potential for future stories. A new series of films should reinforce the idea that Batman's battle against crime is ongoing, with the same maniacs surfacing again and again.
Hopefully, lessons have been learned from past mistakes. This looks to be the case, with characters like the Joker, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, and others seemingly having years of experience behind them in the forthcoming Suicide Squad.
