10 Things Harry Potter Fans Probably Didn't Know About Voldemort
5. He Excelled At Hogwarts
Of course everyone knows that Voldemort is an immensely powerful wizard but this doesn't always translate into academic excellence. Harry Potter himself, for example, is often shown to be a fairly average student despite his natural spellcasting prowess. And despite their many similarities, their grades are one aspect on which the Dark Lord and The Boy Who Lived differ.
Dumbledore himself told Harry how naturally intelligent the young Tom Riddle was, having a particular aptitude for Legilimency and Occlumency. He was also awarded a Medal for Magical Merit, an honour also received by Harry's mother Lily.
Along with being named Head Boy in his seventh year, Riddle was also invited into the very exclusive Slug Club run by Potions professor Horace Slughorn. Slughorn chose students for the club that showed great promise in either a specific area of magic or in a more general sense. Many of the members of this club went on to be notable witches and wizards, including Harry Potter himself in his sixth year.
It's a shame that Voldemort didn't put all of those brains towards something good, instead of his evil campaign.
