Hollywood sets are like summer camp, with the counsellors (producers) making sure the crazy kids don’t start acting out of line. In true high school fashion, everyone then separates into groups that either ignore or berate each other.

On a porn shoot, there are no groups, so the camera department and the electrical department are more likely to be working together than to be at each other’s throats. Then again, depending on the scale of the production, they might even be the same person.

A more communal set creates a better atmosphere, which makes it easier for everyone to perform his or her job. You might also argue that it makes for a better picture, but on a porn set, that’s not really a consideration.
