10 Things Hollywood Must Get Right With The Dark Tower Movie

2. Involve Frank Darabont, Somehow

When it comes to the cinema, writer/director Frank Darabont is the ultimate interpreter of Stephen King's works - without question. He "gets" King in a way that so many other directors - Stanley Kubrick among them - simply never did. There are lots of terrible Stephen King movie adaptations, of course, but Darabont's aren't among them: he brought the world The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and The Mist, all of which were brilliant (the first of which is regarded by lots of people as the best film ever made) and - in some cases - surpassed their source material in terms of longevity. All this is another way of saying that nobody understands how to adapt Stephen King like Frank Darabont does. In some capacity, then, the studio needs to get this guy involved - as a script supervisor, as a creative consultant, whatever. At least with Darabont on board, fans could rest assured knowing that there's somebody hanging around the set who knows what, exactly, makes for a great and memorable Stephen King adaptation. Hire him!
