10 Things Justice League Can Learn From Wonder Woman
4. A Non-Digital Villain Would Be Nice
This is another area where Wonder Woman itself is guilty, but Justice League can learn from it all the same.
The DCEU's track record for compelling third-act villains is pretty poor, what with Batman v Superman's boring CGI cave troll Doomsday, the hip-shaking Enchantress in Suicide Squad, and the rather naff-looking Ares in Wonder Woman.
Only General Zod in Man of Steel really felt that imposing, because an actual actor was involved in the fight rather than a mere digital creation. Yes, David Thewlis can be seen during Wonder Woman's final battle, but he still takes a backseat to the visual effects.
Considering that CiarĂ¡n Hinds will be playing Steppenwolf in Justice League via motion-capture performance, a little concern is understandable, though as the recent Planet of the Apes movies have proven, mo-cap can tease out unexpectedly emotional and believable performances when used right.
Fingers crossed Hinds still has some presence in the final movie.
