10 Things That Would Make You Excited For DC’s Cinematic Universe
5. Stick To The Source Material
Iconic comic books are influencing movies at an unprecedented rate. Batman V Superman is heavily drawing from Frank Millers seminal The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel, Marvel's Civil War, Ragnarok and the Infinity Gauntlet are being translated to screen, and it looks like DC will be using the New 52 as a basis for many of their other characters. DC recently rebooted their comics with the New 52, giving a modern take on classic characters. This reboot looks set to heavily influence many of the iterations of DCs heroes that we will soon see on screen. Recent comments have clarified that Wonder Woman will be the New 52 iteration of the character, with Zeus as her father, and Supermans costume has clearly drawn from his reinterpretation, losing his often joked about red pants and donning a full blue suit. There are a number of iconic and strong story-lines in the comics that DC could easily adapt into a blockbuster hit - The Tower Of Babel is a perfect example of a storyline that would easily work on screen and would satisfy both niche and mainstream audiences. It would be a shame if DC squandered this opportunity and tried to ignore the classic texts that have shaped their characters over the decades.
