10 Things That Would Make You Excited For DC’s Cinematic Universe
3. Dont Rush It
We now know the timeline for DCs first set of films, and it is looking pretty tight. Marvel produced five films before releasing The Avengers, whereas DC will be releasing ten films in six years. In doing so they risk trying to set up the shared universe without first introducing the characters - Batman V Superman will introduce Wonder Woman, Batman, Lex Luthor and reportedly Aquaman and Cyborg in some capacity. This risks establishing many characters by little more than a name. We wont get to know what the heroes are like or see any development at this rate. Of course, this could be too much too soon, and while the Justice League film will be split in two, elongating it and giving greater room for a deep story, the foundations of the universe needs to be delicately set. This is not to say that they need to release five films to set up their Justice League film, but it means that they shouldnt sacrifice quality in an attempt to keep up with Marvel - they need to accept that in this arena Marvel are well ahead of DC simply because they started earlier. They should not be playing catch up, they should be trying to make an excellent product, and having a few extremely well crafted films will surpass having many mediocre movies.
