10 Things Marvel Wants You To Forget About The MCU

4. Coulson Death Was The Sole Motivation Of The Avengers

Marvel has a habit of seemingly killing off characters just to bring them back to life shortly after. Thor, Bucky Barnes, Pepper Potts, Nick Fury, Agent Coulson, and Loki (twice) were all killed at one point only to reveal they never really died. And while most of these can be explained (Thor was brought back by magic after he learned his lesson, Bucky was rescued and nursed back to health, Pepper was indestructible at the time, Nick Fury faked his death, and Loki fell into a hole in space and was rescued by Thanos), Coulson's simply cannot. The man's death was noble. It was heartfelt, and it gave the Avengers the kick in the pants that they needed to work together and defeat Loki and the Chitauri. And then on Agents of SHIELD everyone found out he was actually still alive. The internet response consisted of "what?" and "why?" when a more appropriate response would have been "no." Coulson should not be alive. He did his job. He helped bring the Avengers together and then his death finally united them. That's it. No more. Bringing him back is pointless, which is no doubt why Marvel insists on keeping him away from the films - as far as they're concerned, he's still dead.

Yes, my last name is pronounced exactly as it's spelled. Just like "going to the store". ;) I am an aspiring writer currently working on my first novel, which is GOING to be awesome once it's published. (See what I did there?) I love reading, am a HUGE film buff (who welcomes all trivia challenges), and never miss a New York Giants football game. I'm an open book so if there is anything else you'd like to know about me, just ask.
