10 Things MCU Phase 3 Must Avoid (And Why)

7. Bad Cinematography & Editing

Pretty much ever since the MCU first kicked off, it's had a bit of an issue with visuals: Marvel Studios insist on a "house style" for most of their movies which prevents the directors from placing much of an individual stamp or personality on their movies.

The worst offenders by far are The Avengers and Ant-Man, which boast flat cinematography and basically look like high-budget TV episodes.

Then there's Civil War, which looks decent enough in terms of cinematography but suffers from horrifically poor editing, such that the opening fight scene in Lagos is at times near-incomprehensible, especially during Black Widow's action.

The camera's high shutter speed is an attempt by the Russos to eliminate motion blur, but it unfortunately causes frames to "bleed" into one another and can be irritating or headache-inducing to many viewers.

While Civil War's iconic airport sequence thankfully didn't suffer from the same issues, it's still a tad concerning moving forward, especially in terms of Infinity War, which the Russos will of course direct.
