10 Things Movies Need To Stop Doing IMMEDIATELY
9. Splitting Final Chapters In Two
While many eventually argued that the decision to split the climax of the Harry Potter series into two parts was warranted, with the book itself being rather dense and likely needing two flicks to get as much of the tale as possible onto the big-screen, Death Hallows: Part I was still classed as a bit of a slow burn and a drag by many.
Part II obviously threw audiences right into the emotional Battle of Hogwarts. But the flaws in this finale splitting were very much there to see from the get-go.
The positives, though? The potential of making two box office devouring blockbusters instead of one, of course!
But unfortunately for those who'd invested their time in the likes of the Hunger Games, Twilight Saga, and the Divergent series, the stretching out of their final chunks of action often resulted in one of the two chapters feeling annoyingly padded out and like a shameless cash-grab.
Marvel Studios managed to at least make their two-part conclusion to the Infinity Saga feel like two distinct properties that could stand on their own as celebrated entries in the MCU.
However, the separating of the upcoming Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning potential end of Tom Cruise's time as Ethan Hunt into two parts, due to Christopher McQuarrie feeling M:I 7 would've been too long if they didn't, feels like simply the latest example of a studio seizing the chance to squeeze a few extra pounds out of a loyal audience.
