10 Things Movies Need To Stop Doing IMMEDIATELY
4. Revealing Too Much In Trailers
As evidenced with the likes of Jurassic World: Dominion and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, sometimes over-stuffing your trailers can leave your audience feeling as though they've been robbed of a potential jaw-dropping surprise or thrilling reveal by the time they sit down to take in the finished action.
And it's not as though fans would've been on the fence about taking in those particular films before watching said teaser footage either.
Had those pieces of marketing simply shown the OG Jurassic Park gang back together again and staring down the odd dino or Doctor Strange cracking a few jokes and taking out a wacky multiversal creature, folks would've still been lining up on opening night.
Instead, awesome cameos were spoiled and eventually overshadowed, just about every dinosaur to walk the earth in that Jurassic conclusion was revealed early, and most walked out of the experiences feeling as though they'd just witnessed a flick they'd already seen a bite-sized version of.
Maybe the lesson here is to simply steer clear of modern trailers altogether if you're looking to be genuinely surprised by an upcoming movie. But there's surely still a way to get audiences hyped up for a new adventure without giving away the entire tale in two-minutes flat.
