10 Things Movies Tell You Are Normal (But Totally Aren't)

6. Leaving The House Unlocked

Due to precautionary safety measures, I hope you all lock your front doors before you leave your homes - even put on a burglar alarm if possible. The thought of a stranger freely entering my household makes me uneasy as it is. However... It seems house keys are rarely used in films, unless every door must be assumed to close and lock by itself. Everyone seems to leave the front door unlocked when leaving, and even leaving the door open when entering their accommodation. It can't be said that the neighbourhoods are safe either with the extent of horror films nowadays. Although if the door was locked films such as Home Alone (1990) the movie wouldn't have been the same. Nonetheless, surely it isn't wasting valuable film time just to have a door locked in a few seconds?

As a one-of-a-kind twenty-something film fanatic and culture vulture... I have a 1st Class Honours degree in English Literature with Film Studies & Media Cultures. Along with recently completing MA by Research in Film Studies, I aspire to be a film critic and yearn for the opportunity to roll around on the red carpet (with or without Christian Bale in his Batsuit). Always openly embracing films of all genres and nations, although anything Studio Ghibli related will always have a place in my heart. Believes normality is overrated!
