7. Hanging Up The Phone Without Saying 'Goodbye'
Surely the basic rules of communication is shared worldwide whereby the words 'Hello' and 'Goodbye' open and close a conversation. In fact, it is embedded in our social behaviour that the concept shouldn't even be questioned. However... It is unbelievable that the majority of phone-calls in the movies simply end without anyone saying 'goodbye'. The phone is always cut off after the last statement. How do we know if the person on the other side has been cut off mid-convo? What if all questions weren't answered? Why is there never an awkward silence with both sides being in doubt as to who should cut off the line? The only times where the end of a conversation is apparent is when either party don't want to hang up - 'you hang up' 'no you hang up'... even then nobody says 'goodbye' and the phone is put down abruptly. I would personally think it rude if someone to just put the phone down on me without even notifying me. I would call back straight away, although to be honest I probably wouldn't notice still be talking away to myself!
