6. A Major Comic Book Arc Is Depicted

So far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there have certainly been some elements of stories lifted straight from the comic books, but we would really like to see one of the epic arcs depicted on the big screen. The Extremis storyline was loosely depicted in Iron Man 3 and Age of Ultron is set to be given the movie treatment next year and, although that was written as a big event, its popularity is pretty low among comic book fans and the film's only similarity with the comic book arc appears to be its name at first glance. Therefore, we could really do with seeing an iconic story arc transferred over to a Hollywood blockbuster. Infinity Gauntlet springs to mind as the one most likely to happen, given that the Infinity Gems (or Infinity Stones, as they're called in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) have already started to appear and Thanos (as well as numerous heroes) from the arc are already established characters on screen. Given the existing popularity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe without the franchise having delved in to the truly iconic story arcs, just imagine how popular it will become when they start to use the truly great stories. Fans will go crazy and box office records will surely be smashed.
