10 Things You Need To Know About Fifty Shades Of Grey

9. It's The Start Of A Trilogy

It's been said that if Fifty Shades Of Grey is a hit, then it will spawn a trilogy, adapting James' other two novels, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed. However, there's not much of an "if" to the scenario, considering that there is absolutely no chance this $40 million sex drama won't make a complete killing at the box office. Considering the overwhelming popularity of the novel series, selling in excess of 100 million copies worldwide, if even a small percentage of those sales translate to movie tickets, Fifty Shades will be raking in several hundred millions in box office receipts. Middle-class soccer moms looking for a little shameless indulgence will be flocking to it in droves, while young adult couples looking for something to get them in the mood will also make up much of the audience. Though it might initially seem like a movie marketed primarily at women, the inevitability is that a large portion of the audience will be boyfriends and husbands dragged to it (and they'll at least get to see Dakota Johnson stripping off, so it's not all bad). This will ensure massive box office success, and with the two principals locked in for two more movies, the inevitable franchise also. However, if the first movie's lack of full frontal nudity disappoints audiences enough, the latter two movies will likely pull in more modest returns, or perhaps even flop outright.
