8. Adam Sandler Nearly Ruined The Film
Having witnessed Bradley Cooper do an awesome job as Rocket, its hard to imagine anyone else playing the role any better than he did. Cooper said he tried to channel Joe Pescis character in Goodfellers in Rocket but obviously with less swearing and violent outbursts. Had Bradley Cooper not been available for any reason, others in the running to play the genetically altered raccoon were Jim Carry, David Tennant and comedy demon himself, Adam Sandler. The Rocket character is so unique and distinguished in his own right, it was the correct decision to not use an actor like Jim Carry or Adam Sandler whos voices are instantly recognizable. While Bradley Cooper is a recognizable actor, he is not instantly recognizable by his voice. It is arguable that Gamora suffered from the problem of not being unable to detach the actor from the role because all the time on the screen, you see Zoe Saldana and it takes you out of the meticulously created universe. Had that happened every time Rocket opened his mouth, it would have been a shame.
