10 Things You Need To Know About Joel Schumacher's Batman Triumphant

7. Mad Hatter Might Have Been Involved As Well

Either a sign of what a mess Batman Triumphant was, or else how little they'd gotten into preproduction, was the amount of villains they were considering. Either they hadn't really quite settled on The Scarecrow and Harley Quinn, or else they were gonna have a Spider-Man 3-style too many bad guys spoil the broth situation. Because besides those two principal antagonists for a little while it seemed like there were some more villains in the mix as well. Apparently comedian Martin Short was mooted for the part of Mad Hatter, with Warner Bros presumably hoping to strike gold a second time after casting comedian Jim Carrey as a madcap, manic Riddler in Batman Forever. Given the downturn in the former Saturday Night Live performer's career in recent years perhaps Batman Triumphant would've been a god send. Or possibly not, since the Mad Hatter is an Alice In Wonderland-obsessed criminal who likes kidnapping little girls. Why don't more colourful superhero films involved paedophilia eh?
