10 Things You Need To Know About Joel Schumacher's Batman Triumphant

8. ...With Madonna Playing Harley Quinn

As had seemingly become di riguer since The Penguin and Catwoman tore up Gotham in Batman Returns, Triumphant would've seen the heroes coming up against not one but two enemies. Deciding to go with something a little less well known (back then, anyway), Protosevich's script had Harley Quinn in a supporting role. Whilst The Scarecrow hewed pretty close to his comic book incarnation, this Harley Quin would've varied a lot from the source material. There she's Joker's long-suffering girlfriend, his former psychologist at Arkham who falls madly in love with him (and madly insane along with it). In Batman Triumphant she would've been The Joker's daughter, seeking revenge on Batman for killing her dad. If you think that change (and explicitly linking the Schumacher and Burton films for the first time) are weird, then the news that they hoped Madonna might play the character will blow your mind, no?
