10 Things You Need To Know About The New Harry Potter Film
9. The Main Character: Newt Scamander
We know that this film is going to revolve around the future Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them author Newt Scamander, as a young man just recently graduated from Hogwarts. A confirmed Hufflepuff, Scamander is traveling around the world cataloging the various magical creatures that he comes into contact. Born in 1897, he would be in his mid to late twenties when the film is set, a wide-eyed Magizoologist off to see the world. Starting in New York City. Because if Men in Black has taught us anything, it's that the five boroughs of the Big Apple are the perfect hiding place for weird creatures to escape notice. After graduating from Hogwarts in 1915, Scamander spent three years working for the Ministry of Magic, first in the Office for House-Elf Relocation, then in the Beast Division, before being commissioned to write Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which was published in 1927 and immediately became a well-respected authority on the subject of magical creatures.
