Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them will be set against a backdrop of 1920s New York, some seventy years before the events of the Harry Potter novels. The Roaring Twenties, especially in Manhattan, was a time that experienced a huge flourishing of culture, arts, music, and design, so it's likely that this will be a visually stunning film. We're hoping that the time period will play a huge role in the film, and that they will incorporate a lot of the stylistic elements of the 1920s into the costume and set design. It's significant that when JK had to pick a time period in which to tell a new Harry Potter story, she immediately chose this incredibly distinctive era, and we can't wait to see how she will merge the well-known historical context with her own unique concepts of the magical community. A wizarding world that includes jazz music and art deco? Yes, please.
