According to J.K. Simmons, Terminator: Genisys is a love story. He made the comments to ComingSoon.net, and before you dismiss them, consider this: the first Terminator movie was partially a tale of doomed love. Kyle Reese heads back in time knowing he'll fall in love with Sarah Connor and father her child. He knows that because his son is the man who will send him back in time to protect his mother, and Reese's love. In the first film, of course, he's doomed. However, with the resetting of the Terminator timeline in Genisys, all bets are off. This suddenly can become the story of a love that survives. The man who held on to a faded photograph of Sarah Connor can now have a second chance at loving her - so yes, in that sense, Genisys could in fact be a love story. With a lot of killer machines.
