3. The Future War Is More T2 Than Salvation

Before Terminator: Salvation went and made the future of the Terminator world look like something out of Transformers, what fans wanted were purple lasers shooting from rifles and HKs (hunter-killers) patrolling overhead. Battles that took place under cover of darkness and seas of skulls and other remains being crunched under foot by marching, soulless Terminators was the stuff they dreamed of - or had nightmares of. That appears to be something Terminator: Genisys is going back to. The look and feel of its future war is more T2 than Salvation, and again, that's a good thing. The last two Terminator films weren't bad by most standards, but when you're part of a franchise as storied as the Terminator family, you're measured by a different yard stick.
